Why ‘Red Haired’ Shanks Is Going To Die In One Piece

After having more than 870 chapters in manga and 800+ episodes in anime we all may have heard the rumor that Shanks will die or he needs to die for the story to go on. But why? He just can’t die in vein or leaving nothing behind for he was the biggest inspiration for Luffy to sail out with the desire to find the most desired treasure among pirates, One Piece. So if he dies, there must be a significant reason and consequence for it. Let’s see from the beginning what they could be.

To a large a part of One Piece fanatics Shanks is just an overpowered pirate who became a Yonkou although he shouldn’t have that much power to do so. I’d totally defy it. He may have looked such normal middle powered pirate on the beginning of One Piece and isn’t known to have any strong Devil Fruit or any Devil Fruit at all so how did he become one of the strongest four pirates of the current pirate world? Before calling him overrated we should consider some things first.

First off, he was a crewmate of Gol D Roger himself despite being a kid back then but he was more matured than Buggy so at least he must know things of their voyage more or less. What every pirates are dying to witness for getting One Piece, he has seen them all regardless of if he remembers them all or not. Then, he has all three haki abilities including Conqueror’s Haki, the strongest among hakis. It may seem that just having all three hakis should be enough but what if everyone of his crew has at least two different haki abilities along with their individual skills? For a men who can walk on White Beard’s ship alone just guarding himself with his haki it’s too hard to be called lame or overrated. He met Luffy when he was just seven but now he is 19 and this time is enough for a former Gol D Roger crewmate to establish his own empire when Luffy came this far from a rookie in less than just three years. And we all have seen how fierce his appearance was when he came to stop the war of Marine Ford, in which the marine and other pirates still wonder how he managed to get there so fast when he was thought to be fighting with Kaido.

So we can say he isn’t someone we can take lightly. Therefore he can’t die like some random pirate and he has strong basis behind him being a Yonkou. Now if Luffy approaches as he is going now and keeps defeating stronger and stronger opponents there is a huge possibility that he will be a Yonkou someday before reaching Raftel. Enmity is the mostly seen impression between Yonkous although we did see less than that between White Beard and Shanks but since WB is dead we can’t consider them treating others as enemy but just rivals. So if Luffy becomes a Yonkou replacing someone else then most likely they will have to fight which would be the most cruel thing for Oda sensei to create. And if you have been thinking Shanks will help Luffy after meeting him in the new world then you should just grow up and start thinking bigger. Of course a lot of people had helped Luffy but he earned their trust first by proving his worth and they want to follow Luffy and his morals which doesn’t go with the man who himself inspired Luffy to sail out as a pirate.

And we saw how Luffy and the Straw Hats evolved after Ace’s death that helped them become way more powerful than they were and now they all have their own name in the pirate world. And if someone has to die to make the same impression again it should be Shanks. Although we can consider Sabo or Dragon dying but they have already created a long distance between them and Luffy so their death won’t affect Luffy as much as Shanks’ death will, specially Dragon.

And if he dies and Luffy replaces him as a Yonkou then the rivalry among the Yonkous can be kept intact because other friend or allies of Luffy should be following him as it’s a great step for them all. And to gain greater power, to have a reason to punch his way out Shanks’ death is required and whoever manages to do that, Luffy will be provoked to defeat them no matter what and killing Shanks is only possible for another Yonkou or some higher agent of Cipher Pole. Defeating them will make Luffys name way higher than it is now and his territory will expand for sure.

7 One Piece Characters Who Can Defeat A Yonkō

Welcome back guys, in this list we will see the top 7 One Piece Characters Who Can Defeat A Yonkō. Few pirates may achieve this so I chose to do a list from all the characters around the World of One Piece just from the anime.

In the One Piece anime, we know of 5 with the status of Yonkō but there are 4 at a time. Whitebeard was a Yonko but died during the Paramount War in Marineford after enduring 267 sword wounds, 152 bullet shots and 46 cannon balls whilst receiving 0 scars on his back. That is the raw power of a Yonko. The other 4 that are present are Big Mom, Kaido, Blackbeard and Shanks.

Luffy

As the main protagonist of the One Piece, he is meant to do great, overcome obstacles and grow exponentially each time. He is going to face 3 Yonkō with what has happened in the story so far, he has unfinished business with Big Mom, he wants control over Fishman Island. Having Jack being defeated by Zunisha, Yonkō Kaido holds a grudge against the Mink Tribe and the Straw Hat crew. Las but not least Monkey D. Luffy has to face Blackbeard and avenge his late brother Portgas D. Ace.

But let’s not rush to conclusions he first needs to face Big Mom in the Whole Cake Island Arc. Big Mom is one tough cookie. Her best attack is to steal lifespan and it is deadly as she took 40 years away from her own sons Charlotte Opera and Charlotte Moscato whilst craving for croquembouche. Soul-Pocus is its name, it comes with one weakness, if the opponent fears death even for a second, she can use this to take all his lifespan and die, this were Luffy has the upper hand as he doesn’t care about fearing death and we have seen it couple of times like for instance back in Loguetown.

Zoro

As I said before, her weakness is Zoro’s strong point as he has no conception of fearing death either. Remember back when he met Bartolomeo Kuma? He had multiple injuries, had suffered from other injuries inflicted by Oars and Ryuma prior meeting Kuma and he accepted to take all Luffy’s injuries whilst Kuma told him he will die upon receiving them.

He just took it and left faith to decide. He is resilient, every time he falls, he gets up stronger and doesn’t back down a good fight. Many debate who is stronger Zoro or Luffy as both got stronger than ever but we must wait and see what Zoro will offer us soon.

Zoro’s best chance to defeat a Yonkō is against Blackbeard. Now, Blackbeard owns 2 devil fruits, the Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi. The Yami Yami no Mi is a special Devil Fruit that it allows the user to nullify the Devil Fruit of the opponent once touched. It also can be used to suck the opponent’s devil fruit making the opponent sucked up until the user can grab him. These two attacks together are devastating but Zoro didn’t eat one so he has the upper hand, adding his attacks on to that too makes him stronger as Blackbeard after eating the yami yami no mi feels the pain by direct attacks more than the average human.

But then comes his other power Gura Gura no Mi, the strongest paramecia devil fruit which can destroy the world. It allows the user to create vibrations in the air. In the Marineford War Whitebeard brought a Tsunami by this power and destroying Marineford with it. If Zoro and Sanji got together to fight Blackbeard they will have a greater chance in winning.

One of the best battles in my opinion would be Zoro vs Kaido. It’s just my fantasy to see them both head to head, having the fight of the century. It would be nice to see Zoro win against Kaido but with his abilities so far, it seems a very long shot we still have to see how developed Zoro has become.

Monkey D. Dragon

Little is known about Monkey D. Dragon but his name is very powerful in the One Piece story. He is the head of the organisation called The Revolutionary Army aiming on dethroning The World Government and create their own system. His name is so powerful that his epithet is The World’s Most Dangerous Criminal. Blackbeard recently destroyed their base at Baltigo.

Monkey D. Dragon might have a faceoff with Blackbeard, Dragon has spies all over the world and known exactly what his son has gone through, by Blackbeard declaring war with the Revolutionary Army, it would be a good guess if they are going to fight against each other. Who will win is questionable as we yet have to see Dragon’s abilities but seeing Sabo the No 2. In the organisation beating up so easily Jesus Burgess the Captain of the First Ship of Blackbeard Pirates, they might have the chance to defeat Blackbeard.

Sakazuki

The Fleet Admiral Sakazuki is one of the strongest characters in One Piece with his devil fruit power Magu Magu no Mi which allows him to control, create and transform into magma, makes one difficult opponent. He has already lost when he got his face smashed to the ground by Whitebeard in Marineford but that doesn’t mean anything.

He has a fair chance against Big Mom since he doesn’t fear death, he is too stubborn to allow fear in his heart, he is very destructive and no one interferes with his Justice. With his Dai Funka (Great Eruption) technique throwing meteors to his opponents, having his hands turn into lava and give u punch like an oversized rocket.

Meteor Volcano, another attack of his is like viewing a volcano erupt. Sakazuki throws magma punches into the air and then they rain down from the sky in form of a lava meteor causing huge damage on a large area.

His deadliest close combat attack is Hellhound. In the anime Hellhound is an attack that allows the user to punch and pierce the body making a hole and then lava shoots inside the opponent’s body making him critically injured or dead. This attack was performed on Whitebeard hence his hole in his chest and all the sizzling fire around the hole. Thus, this make him a great contender against Big Mom.

The next two are as a bonus they are organizations not just a character.
