The Real Reason Why Whitebeard Didn’t Want To Become Pirate King

In this post, we will be discussing the real reason why Whitebeard didn’t want to become Pirate King. It’s been a long time since he was in the New World, couldn’t he find it? Or is it that he didn’t even want the title?

Edward Newgate mostly known as Whitebeard was also known as “The Strongest Man in the World” and “The Man closest to One Piece” after Gol D. Roger died.

Whitebeard since his younger years, he always dreamt about having his own family, being carefree and cheerful guy. Whilst his comrades and crew always desired treasures and looting, Whitebeard wanted a big family.

Here are some examples were Whitebeard preferred the need for a family over actually trying to become Pirate King.

The way he asked Portgas D. Ace to join his crew

“It’d be a shame if you died here, kid. If you still want to wreak havoc on this sea, bear my name on your back and go wild as much as you like! Become my son!”

It shows us his love towards his crewmates that he calls his sons. He is showing us how he will protect him if needs be by bear his name on your back. Showing other pirates that if someone messes with a pirate with WB name on their back, they will have to face Whitebeard himself.

Which brings us to the second example during the Paramount Wars in Marineford.

When the Marines decided to make a public execution of Portgas D. Ace for being Gol D. Roger’s son. Whitebeard showed up with a whole strategy to destroy his way to bring Ace back to his family.

Whenever he recalls something from his memories, it was always him remembering that the children of his younger days are still children in his eyes like former Admiral Aokiji, Buggy and Shanks.

His death shows us even more about his character, he loved his crew as his family, by never running away and always being proud of his family.

Even in death, his body did not fall. His figure, taking down enemies while losing half of his head, was truly monstrous. The total number of sword wounds he received in this battle was 267. He was shot by 152 bullets and was hit by 46 cannonballs. And despite all this, his proud back, over the course of his entire life as a pirate, never received a single scar from running away!

Just prior his death he recalled his last memory of himself enjoying a drinking session with Gol D. Roger and having a conversation were Roger told Whitebeard about his deadly, incurable condition and his time will soon fade away. So, Gol D. Roger wanted to tell Whitebeard about the One Piece.

You want to know how to get to Raftel, Whitebeard?” to which Whitebeard replied “doesn’t really matter to me since I don’t really plan on going there. Gol D. Roger finished by telling him what the D stands for in his name.

To show how much respect Whitebeard had for Gol D. Roger in his dying words he yelled out “One Piece… really exists.” All out from respect and believing that the One Piece really exists not even knowing if it is true or not.

Whitebeard knew that it will shake the Marines and give them some disadvantage as more pirates will venture the seas and bring havoc with them. Even mentioning that that Gol D. Roger isn’t waiting for Blackbeard and when the D will arise, he will destroy the World Government and be unprecedented change along with him and the WG already know that this will happen and are trying to extinguish the flames before it arrives.

Last thing, Whitebeard just wanted a big family, all working and helping each other even when Squard stabbed him he simply stated that children should not be punished for their parents’ sin. He reminded that Ace wasn’t to blame for Roger killing his former crew. All this by remaining calm, forgave him and understanding towards him. Monkey D. Dragon’s Real Identity

There are many theories about Monkey D. Dragon and how he was an admiral prior the Revolutionary Army and today we will be discussing one of those theories.

Most anime and manga have a relation to mythology and One Piece follows one too. In One Piece we have 4 seas, North, South, East and West blue seas. In pre-Han Dynasty China, the original 4 seas were a metaphor to the borders of China. 2 of them were associated with real locations, the East China Sea and the South China Sea. During the Han Dynasty, the Chinese also won the North (Lake Baikal) and West Seas (Qinghai Lake).

These seas have 4 colours that are associated with them yellow, red, white and blue. In Japanese mythology, they have the same but instead of white, they have black.

Apart from those colours, overtime those colours became 4 animals yellow monkey, red dog, white dragon and blue bird.

These represent the 4 seas, now we have two sides that represents this mythology, the 4 Yonkos representing the seas being: North – Whitebeard, South – Big Mom, West – Red Hair Shanks and East – Kaidou.

The colours and animals represent 4 admirals Yellow Monkey – Kizaru, Blue Bird – Aokiji, Red Dog – Akainu and White Dragon – Monkey D. Dragon. 4 seasons are represented by them too Spring, Winter, Summer and Autumn respectively.

Now it comes to the theory, Monkey D. Dragon’s father is Garp, a vice admiral had an ambition to recruit Luffy and Ace into becoming marines. As Dragon is his son, Garp pushed Dragon into becoming a marine. Dragon might have been an admiral because of his title the most wanted man. Garp multiple times said he doesn’t want to become an admiral because of this reason, they have loads of responsibilities, less freedom as they get direct orders from the Celestial Dragons and he couldn’t follow his own conscious as he have to give an example to the lower ranks much more than if is just a vice admiral. If Dragon was an admiral, this would be a position he don’t want too as he seen the damage and toll it left on his son.

Why is Dragon the most dangerous man, the most wanted man and the World Government biggest enemy?

This theory suggests that the only way to have this hatred pointed towards Dragon only if he had been a crucial part of the organisation, knowing the juiciest of secrets about them and after all betraying them.

In this theory, Dragon was an admiral he was in charge to find where Uranus is, he found it out and had no intention to reveal it to them. He knew what the Nobles are like as he might receive direct orders from them. He knew how they acted towards humanity and his hatred towards Nobles have been shown on the series. If Dragon went for Uranus and left the Marines, this would certainly be a huge betrayal leading towards his title.
