Risa Taneda, the voice actress for Erina Nakiri from Shokugeki no Soma will not return for the third season of the anime! The official website for the anime released on Monday that Hisako Kanemoto will voice Erina for the third season whom replaced Risa Taneda in the event anime and OVA. It was announced that Taneda will be on hiatus due to medical treatment and the extensive recording sessions would impact her health. Taneda, however, did say that she will gradually come back to voice acting after her recovery.
Hisako Kanemoto has already voiced Erina for last year’s Jump Special Anime Festa’s event anime and she has also voiced Itsuki from Love Live! Sunshine!!, Mel from Lostorage incited WIXOSS and Hinano Kurahashi from Assassination Classroom.
The third season of Shokugeki no Soma is titled Shokugeki no Sōma: San no Sara (Food Wars! The Third Plate). It will follow the previous two seasons, but showcase the battle of the Elite Ten. The third season has 13 episodes and will cover the Moon Festival Arc. Set to premier this fall, the returning cast members include:
The new anime seems to be trying to catch up with the manga so we can expect to see some new content including Soma and Erina getting closer to each other. Erina’s father also takes over as headmaster of the school which pushes Erina towards making an alliance with Soma to resist her father’s new rules. The Polar Star Dormitory is also threatened by Eizan Etsuya who wants to shut it down and we see Soma challenge him to a battle in order to protect their dorm. In any case, this will be an exciting third season!
